What Are Emergency Dental Services?
At Lovett Dental, we serve people from all around the great state of Texas. Our emergency dental services provide our patients with the fast and affordable care they need to feel good about their smile and live in comfort again. You may feel panicked when a dental emergency happens, partly due to the inconvenience it causes. Do not worry; we can fit you in quickly. We want our patients to return back to life and all the responsibilities that come with it. Whatever type of care you need, it is our goal to make this process quick and convenient.
Dealing with the Pain
The most common emergency situation is a broken tooth. The second most common emergency is a tooth falling out. Both of these events are immensely painful. We are enormously sensitive to the pain this causes you and we want to take care of the problem as soon as possible. It is very important that you do not take blood-thinning pain killers to treat the pain. Bleeding occurs in most emergency cases, and blood-thinning pain killers can make the bleeding worse. The only blood-thinning pain killer you should take is Tylenol.
Start treating the area by applying an ice pack. This can help lessen the pain and the flow of blood.
The best way to lessen the pain is by visiting our office as soon as possible. We suggest in severe situations that you have someone drive you right away. It is not wise to drive yourself because driving while in a lot of pain can cause an accident. It is okay if there is no time to make a phone call.
How Emergency Dental Services Can Help
We all run into different emergencies in life. It is no surprise that there is a varying degree and type when it comes to what constitutes a dental emergency. A bitten lip can actually be a dental emergency because it may need to be stitched up. One of our dentists can also take care of you if you have burned the roof of your mouth. Severe burns require a visit to the emergency room. You may even have a toothache and not quite know the origin.
Always go to the emergency room if you have a broken jaw. A broken jaw is considered major surgery and needs a full operating room. It is much easier to fix if you get immediate treatment.
You should also go to the emergency room if you have inhaled any dental implant, such as braces or a bridge. This can block your trachea and lead to death.
Worry About Fixing Your Tooth Before Payment
We have worked with patients from all socioeconomic backgrounds. Lovett Dental takes most major types of dental insurance. If you are concerned about payment issues, talk to our staff. There are lines of credit and plans that you can get through us. The most important thing is for us to take care of the emergency before it gets worse.
